چکیده
We describe here the Bovidae from early Middle Miocene site of Maboko, Kenya, known for its rich and highly diverse assemblage Primates. They are attributed to two taxa slightly different sizes, Turcocerus africanus n.sp. Kubanotragus pickfordi. In addition ranges through Turkey China; it might have originated in Africa but lack precise dating weakens any phylogeographic hypothesis. has similar chronological geographic ranges. Both Maboko species retain low levels hypsodonty compared their northern relatives may been less specialised grazing than Eurasian taxa. The illustrate an diversification family that appears pre-date major appearance clades characteristic modern African pecoran faunas.

A new species of Criotherium (Bovidae, Mammalia) from the late Miocene of Bulgaria
We describe here a new species of the bovid Criotherium, from the late Miocene of Bulgaria. The genus was previously known to definitely occur only in Samos (Greece) and Kemiklitepe (Western Turkey), with the single species C. argalioides. The new species, C. nikolovi, is more primitive than the latter, although both are probably contemporaneous, suggesting the occurrence of two lineages in the...
متن کاملNew Hyaenodonts (ferae, Mammalia) from the Early Miocene of Napak (uganda), Koru (kenya) and Grillental (namibia)
Recent palaeontological surveys in Early Miocene sediments at Napak (Uganda), Koru (Kenya) and Grillental (Namibia) have resulted in the collection of a number of small to medium-sized hyaenodonts and carnivorans, some of which were poorly represented in previous collections. The present article describes and interprets the hyaenodonts from these localities. The new fossils permit more accurate...
متن کاملNew Miocene Carnivora (Mammalia) from Moruorot and Kalodirr, Kenya
We describe new carnivoran fossils from Kalodirr and Moruorot, two late Early Miocene sites in the Lothidok Formation of West Turkana, Kenya. The fossils include a new species of viverrid, Kichechia savagei sp. nov., a new genus and species of felid, Katifelis nightingalei gen. et sp. nov., and an unidentified musteloid. We also report new records of the amphicyonid Cynelos macrodon. These new ...

The meetings were organized by Professor Waddington, and in this article he outlines some of the points discussed at the meetings. The essays arising from the first symposium have recently been published under the title Towa...
متن کاملRhinocerotidae (Mammalia) from the Late Miocene of Bulgaria
We describe the remains of Rhinocerotidae from about 10 Late Miocene localities of Bulgaria, the main ones being Kalimantsi and Hadjidimovo, and the newly discovered site of Strumyani. At least seven species are represented, mostly by cranial elements. A skull is assigned to Chilotherium kiliasi, a species for which a new sub-genus, Eochilotherium, is established. Some fragmentary remains are r...
